Val Ovtcharov - Choreographer

Val stepped into the role of choreographer for Unionville Theatre Company's production of CATS,  as a favour for a friend in 2010.  He returned to direct FAME in 2011, a show close to his heart as he worked closely with the original LeRoy from FAME, Gene Anthony Ray. Val Ovtcharov started his career as a dancer with Red Army Choir back in 1983, and as a part of creative team with the Russian Follies as assistant choreographer in 1992 to 1994. Val appeared as a dancer on the Celine Dion Tour "Colour of My Love" He worked on the cruise lines from 1994 to 2006 starting out as a dancer and working up through the ranks as line captain, deputy cruise director, assistant choreographer, and trainer. Val worked as choreographer for Yakov Smirnov Comedy Show and Disney Dream Cast Tarzan in Brazil. He appeared in HBO series JFK and Tom Selleck TV series "Jessie Stone" as well as Stott Pilates Educational Video. Summer of 2012 Val taught workshops at the Companhia de Danca do Algarve, in Faro, Portugal and master classes in Moscow "First School of Musical". He keeps himself busy by running his Pilates educational and Personal Training company PHG (Pilates New Generation).
Val is looking forward to being a part of the this year creative team for Shrek, meeting old friends as well as new talents and celebrating the 35th Anniversary of his beloved UTC.
